Move over luxury vehicles – there’s a new kid on the block. Meet the new 2017 Kia Cadenza with modern takes on timeless amenities. I love to start my writing with “what’s new” in a vehicle, but with the Kia Cadenza, that’s pretty much everything since the 2017 model received a total redesign. Keep in mind, I tested out the Limited trim line (upper end), but there is also a Premium trim available. Differences include the grille designs, technology features and amenities. There is, however, only one powertrain option: 3.3-liter V6 with 8-speed auto transmission (with Sportmatic and Paddle Shifters). This engine offers 290 horsepower and 253 lb-ft of torque, more than ample in this segment of vehicle.
Maybe your thinking is along the lines of my own. I felt like SUVs were taking over the marketplace in terms of luxury vehicles for the most part. Certainly for large families it made sense. But then I slide behind the wheel of Kia’s newest offering in the large car segment and suddenly fell in love with a sedan again. My faith is restored that empty nesters can drive in the lap of luxury, single folks can enjoy the best of the car world, and young couples can stay on the cutting edge of technology while enjoying super safe features, tons of leg room and carrying kids in tow.
Stunning. That word comes to mind over and over again when thinking about how to appropriately describe the 2017 Kia Cadenza. Still a relatively new product for Kia, this year model’s redesign comes much faster than I anticipated. The ride is solid and comfortable. The interior is gorgeous and technology is as innovative as it gets thanks to the UVO Infotainment and Connectivity platform.
5 Things to Love about the 2017 Kia Cadenza
Roominess – The roominess inside the 2017 Kia Cadenza is incredible. As a new grandmother, I expected that once I tossed a car seat in the back, my front passenger (or driver) would compromise legroom. Not true. I was super impressed.
Exterior – The exterior is sexy with simple, yet bold, lines accenting the newly designed front fascia. LED technology is used in the “piano key” taillights creating a dramatic appearance from the rear and subtle accents of chrome highlight just the right spots. The panoramic sunroof is a nice touch and the rain sensing wipers are spoiling!
“The new Cadenza adds an extra dose of excitement to the large-car segment with its striking looks and premium refinements,” said Orth Hedrick, vice president of product planning, Kia Motors America. “The Cadenza’s cabin has been improved in early every way, but it’s underneath where the Cadenza truly shines with a stiffer and lighter chassis, eight-speed transmission and vastly improved driving dynamics.”
Interior – The interior sports expert craftsmanship in a wraparound dashboard that flows comfortably into the door panels for an aesthetically-pleasing look. Easy-to-use innovation is at the helm of the interior focus with everything you can image from smart-phone integrations to voice command with Kia’s UVO Infotainment System. Nappa leather is available on this trim line (Limited) and other thoughtful amenities I like such as the heated and ventilated front seats, rear window shades and dual-zone temperature control.
Safety – As a mother, grandmother and all-around decent human being, safety is always at the top of my list when checking out new vehicles. The 2017 Kia Cadenza is forward-thinking in this regard with airbags galore, anti-lock brakes, traction control, electronic stability control, tire pressuring monitoring and more!
Warranty – Having a warranty that really backs up a purchase is essential in today’s automotive climate. Kia offers a 10 year/100,000 mile limited powertrain warranty…and that’s just the beginning. They are keenly aware of the consumer’s attention to this and have backed their vehicles accordingly. See more about the KIA WARRANTY here. It’s peace of mind.
Summary of the 2017 Kia Cadenza
I’m a sucker for the underdog, the Cinderella team if you will. And, to me, Kia kind of represents that within the automotive industry. Making strides and moving forward in a time period when many manufacturers are struggling with a constantly changing climate. This newly designed 2017 Cadenza is proof of that. A quality product with excellent usage of high-end materials and smart technology trends makes this Kia a true contender.
